Stories of Our Offices: Overcame Difficulties in the Pandemic to Pull Real Economy through the Crisis
Hot New

2022-05-07

Far East Horizon has formed a service network of nationwide coverage with offices set up in nearly 30 core cities. These offices are nerve endings of its business as well as the blood capillaries for the Company to serve the real economy.

Recently, as Omicron spread across the country, our colleagues at various offices fought the pandemic head-on, helping brick-and-mortar enterprises to maintain steady business and ride out the storm, and contributing to the COVID-impacted Chinese economy with humble efforts.

Harbin Office

One and a half month of continuous business trips to avoid an asterisked travel code

Harbin was seriously impacted by this round of COVID-19 outbreak. Due to a continuous increase in COVID cases, employees traveling on business will find their travel code marked with an asterisk upon returning to Harbin, which makes it impossible for them to serve clients outside of Harbin continuously. To prevent this situation, 5 colleagues including Zhang Xuejiao and Fu Cong from Division 1 of Healthcare Department I have been on business trips for more than one and a half month without returning home.

In particular, Zhang Xuejiao—mother of a three-year-old who put clients above her own family—has been traveling nonstop to visit clients from place to place, so as to understand their demands in details and come up with individualized plans. In March, Zhang Xuejiao achieved tens of millions of yuan of funding, and satisfied the funding needs of clients in Northeast China during the pandemic.

We hope that the pandemic can disappear soon, so that parents like Zhang Xuejiao who chose to not come home to avoid an asterisked travel code could be reunited with their family and return to normal work and life.

Racing against COVID-19 to deliver materials in a “marathon relay”

The COVID lockdown in parts of Fujian and Shandong has presented tremendous challenges to serving cross-regional clients. As a partnership project, a client in Zhejiang has been followed up for over a year. To meet the client’s needs, Yan Feng from Division 1 of People’s Livelihood Consumption Department III and his “partner” optimized the plan repeatedly, and finally decided on direct trust investment, which requires traveling back and forth between Zhejiang (the client’s location), Shanghai (to go through the formalities) and Shandong (the collateral’s location). Since March, the complex and volatile epidemic situation has posed numerous challenges to work.

First of all, the “partner” team in Zhejiang was quarantined, and Yan Feng rushed from Fujian to Tengzhou, Shandong to go through the mortgage formalities. By this time, Teng Zhou had become an “isolated island” with all surrounding areas placed under lockdown.

Then, delivery service in Shanghai was suspended due to the pandemic, so the materials could not be delivered in time. To minimize the impact on clients, the brother teams collaborated seamlessly to pass on materials from one person to another at different high-speed rail stations in a “marathon.”

In just a few days, the materials traveled through Zhejiang and Jiangsu and to Shandong in a timely manner by the hands of the people of Far East Horizon. Yan Feng completed the formalities right before Tengzhou embarked on a citywide lockdown. If he left Tengzhou one day later, the client’s business would have been affected.

Eventually, the client received a loan of 70 million yuan on schedule despite the pandemic. Among the client’s funding plans for March, the only one actually realized was by Far East Horizon. The people of Far East Horizon worked closely to race against COVID-19 and finally won the trust of clients.

To complete contract signing, single lady spent the night alone at Hai Di Lao

On March 24, the epidemic prevention and control measures continued to escalate in Shanghai and surrounding areas. Fearing that Shanghai’s lockdown may hold up a client’s use of fund, Account Manager Tao Yu of Division 1 of Cultural Tourism Department II hurried from Suzhou to Zhenjiang overnight to sign a contract with the client.

At that time, Zhenjiang was already under lockdown, as travelers were persuaded to return at highway exits and country roads were guarded by policemen. Tao Yu could not pass despite her green code, negative nucleic testing result and asterisk-free travel code. After nearly 5 hours of efforts, she finally arrived at the destination to meet her client.

After contract signing, it was already past 10 pm. By then, the last train had already left, and all taxis and online-arranged taxis were forbidden to leave the city. Because hotels refused to accommodate people from outside of Zhenjiang, in desperation, Tao Yu, a single lady, wandered about the streets around midnight. Just when she was about to spend the night in the streets, the service personnel of Hai Di Lao kindly accepted her.

Tao Yu wasted no time in reviewing the contract. Worried that the smell of hot pot may get into the paper, she covered the contract with her jacket, and then fell asleep on the chair wearily. The next morning, she woke up to find herself covered with dozens of aprons. The waiters explained: “You worked too hard. It was cold but you still took off your jacket to cover the document. It must be very Important! We didn’t have any quilt here, so we put the apron on you.” To this day, Tao Yu was still deeply touched when remembering this scene. She said, “I’ll definitely dine at Hai Di Lao more often after the pandemic.”

The next day, braving the pouring rain, Tao Yu caught the earliest high-speed train to Shanghai and delivered the contract. As a result, the client successfully achieved 50 million yuan of funding.

To avoid delay of subsequent business trips, Tao Yu did not rest for a second and returned to be quarantined in no time, so as to return to her post and serve clients as soon as possible.

Running around Northwest China in down coat

The outbreak of COVID-19 was sporadic but frequent in Northwest China. To provide better services to clients, account managers have become “elite long-distance runners” to dodge the pandemic. Cao Lei from Chemical Medicine Department II was one of them. Since March 7, to follow up with clients’ request, he passed through Lanzhou, Taiyuan, Xi’an and Datong, with quarantine time up to 14 days in various places.

During this period, due to an interruption of air and railroad transportation, Cao Lei drove 960km to meet his client in Lanzhou on time, and successfully completed project investigation and determined the client’s plan. Despite difficulties in severe pandemic circumstances, with his relentless spirit, Cao Lei managed to ensure successful credit extension with the overall amount adding up to more than 150 million yuan, and offered timely help to corporate clients in the Northwest Region.

Because Cao Lei was constantly traveling on business, when the office administrative staff asked whether he needed any help, Cao said, “I just want to go home and change my clothes. It was cold when I left, so I bought a down coat. Now that it is hot, I have to buy summer clothes.” This is our lovely Cantonese worker, always on the go in all weathers and seasons.

Helping clients with concerted efforts as joint forces

“It was COVID-19 that made me truly feel the joint forces of the Company!” This described the personal experience of Wang Chunfeng (Division 5 of Machinery Department I) at the frontline during the process project implementation.

In the middle of March, many parts of Guangdong were hit by this round of COVID-19 outbreak, while the needs of Wang Chunfeng’s client in Shandong grew more urgent day by day. Since the project was at the review stage, the Company’s quality control personnel had to rush from Shanghai to Shandong to conduct field operations. At the moment, the pandemic situation had become increasingly more severe, and the epidemic prevention policy in the client’s place had also tightened gradually. After discussing the plan with the client many times, the quality control personnel risked quarantine and drove over 1000km day and night against all odds, and eventually arrived at the destination and completed the trans-provincial review, so as to finally complete the funding of 10 million yuan on schedule.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. Every successfully funding during the pandemic is the result of the concerted efforts of Far East Horizon people. Stories like this happened in many of us during the pandemic. With its dedication, professionalism and high-quality services, Far East Horizon has gained more in-depth trust of clients.

Office
Checkpoint for epidemic prevention and control, supply depot for work and life

During the pandemic, to guarantee smooth business operation, the administrative staff of each office functioned as both a “checkpoint” for epidemic prevention as well as a “supply depot” for work and life. On the one hand, they strictly implemented safety inspections for epidemic prevention and stored up supplies in preparation for lockdown; on the other hand, they called each employee quarantined on business trips to know about their needs and made active efforts to solve their and their family’s difficulties in life. During lockdown, the administrative staff of Shenyang Office, Shenzhen Office, etc. coordinated many parties to take out important documents placed by business personnel at offices in time, to guarantee the normal conduction of business.

It is worth mentioning that starting from April 19, our Hong Kong Office has resumed work. Employees who had been working from home since February 7 have now return to normal work life.

Just as an office employee said, COVID-19 itself is not dreadful; what’s really horrible is a negative mindset in the face of the pandemic. At the critical moment of epidemic prevention and control, only by tackling the difficulties head-on can we solve the problems easily. To the best of our efforts, so long as there is a slightest gleam of hope, Far East Horizon will run towards you whenever in need. Let’s join hands and fight the pandemic side by side. We believe victory is right around the corner!
