Lately, with an increasing number of local COVID-19 cases reported, China is hit by another wave of outbreaks. At the recent meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that we should always put people and lives first and adhere to the scientific and accurate “dynamic zero-COVID” policy, to contain the spread of COVID-19 as soon as possible. Where the epidemic situation is more severe, principal leaders of the Party and government should put epidemic prevention work first and strive to win the decisive battle with the greatest efforts. With the entire nation responding to the requirements of General Secretary Xi, the people of Far East Horizon are charging forward to implement the spirit of his important speech in practice. The “warriors in white” of Horizon Healthcare, a large social medical platform of Far East Horizon, are assembled again to brave the pandemic by contributing their unneglectable strength to the epidemic prevention work nationwide. 

Jilin: frozen stiff hands and fiery hot hearts at -14℃

For the last few days, the epidemic situation in Jilin Province has been quite severe with the number of local confirmed cases and asymptomatic carriers continuing to rise in multiple places. In the evening of March 8, Siping Cancer Hospital, a member hospital of Horizon Healthcare in Jilin Province, received an emergency notice from the higher authority that requested it to cooperate in the local nucleic acid testing. Upon release of the information in the hospital, over 100 people signed up immediately for volunteer work. The menacing outbreak of COVID-19 is nothing compared to the bravery of our warriors in white!

March in Northeast China was still cold, with the temperature hovering around minus zero degree. At the preliminary stage of testing work, it snowed heavily for three consecutive days, and the temperature dropped to as low as -14℃. As hand disinfection is required between tests, after thousands of times of disinfection with alcohol, the hands of medical workers were numb with cold, but they continued after flexing their fingers briefly during breaks.  

To complete nucleic acid testing as quickly as possible, many medical workers came to the sample collection points straight after their night shifts at hospitals. They scarified their “homes” for the “home of the people.” For many days in a row, the angles in white of Siping Cancer Hospital braved wind and snow ，and held fast to their positions at the front line.  

Shenzhen: Three Member Hospitals Assembled to Guard Communities

As a high risk region of imported cases, on March 14, Shenzhen started three rounds of mass nucleic acid testing and implemented closed-off management citywide in full response to the assembly call to fight COVID-19. Following the orders from the superior department, the member hospitals of Horizon Healthcare within Guangdong Province immediately reacted between the evening of March 13 and the morning of March 14, with over 200 medical workers from Shenzhen Zhonghai Hospital, Shenzhen Cihai Hospital and Dongguan Guanhua Hospital rushing to the sample collection points for nucleic acid testing in local communities. 

Medical workers from these three member hospitals were mainly stationed at communities of Yuanshang Neighborhood of Longgang District, Shenzhen, including Dakang, Bao’an, Xikeng, Anliang, He’ao and Yinhe, with nearly 200,000 residents. The race against virus started again. With professional epidemic prevention process, orderly organization and skillful medical techniques, the people of Horizon Healthcare completed the on-site collection of samples at top speed.

So far, Shenzhen is still at a critical stage of epidemic prevention, and the medical workers of Horizon Healthcare remain devoted to the construction of a citywide defense line against COVID-19, sticking to their posts and doing their best to screen for virus carriers as fast as they can.

There are still many difficulties to overcome in the intense epidemic prevention work of China, and the people of Horizon Healthcare guard the well-being of the entire nation by checking the invasion of COVID-19 in every possible place. 

In Jiangsu, upon receipt of a notice from the higher authority past midnight, Siyang TCM Hospital got its medical workers fully equipped and ready to rush to the rescue by starlight. Over 300 medical workers were dispatched from the hospital to support nucleic acid testing in local sample collection points in Suzhou, Lianyungang, Suqian and Changzhou. 

In Heilongjiang, Anda Jiren Hospital sent out 7 medical workers to assist the Heihe medical team. They fought side by side with the people of Heihe for nearly 8 days, and some of them were also members of the medical team to assist Hubei back in 2020.
